DESCRIPTION:Christoph Croisé & Oxana Shevchenko\nChristoph Croisé – Lauded for ‘delicate yet virtuosic’ playing (BBC Music Magazine) and ‘seamless subtleties of tone colour’ with ‘plenty of edge’ (The Strad)\, Swiss-French-German cellist Christoph Croisé is quickly building an international reputation as one of the most captivating young concert soloists to emerge in recent years. At the age of 17\, he made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall\, where he has performed on several occasions since. He also appears regularly in world-renowned concert halls including the Tonhalle Zurich\, the Konzerthaus Vienna\, the Philharmonie Berlin\, the Wigmore Hall London\, the Residenz Munich\, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg\, and others. \nOxana Shevchenko – Internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry\, sensibility\, and versatility. She is equally in demand both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. In 2010\, Oxana won First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition. Shortly after\, she worked with Delphian Records on her debut recording (2011)\, featuring works by Shostakovich\, Mozart\, Liszt\, and Ravel. SUMMARY:Christmas Carols at Netherby Hall 2025
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 14th December\, 7–8pmTickets: £15 per person \nJoin us in the historic setting of Netherby Hall for a magical evening of festive music performed by Sempre Amabile\, a women’s choir based in Kendal\, Cumbria. \nFormed in 2018 by alumni of the Amabile family of choirs\, Sempre Amabile perform an inspiring range of music – from madrigals to musicals – with a focus on expressive storytelling through song. The choir have enjoyed success in recent competitions\, including second place at the Manchester Annual Choral Competition 2024 and first place at the Carlisle Music and Drama Festival 2024\, where they were also awarded Most Inspiring Choral Performance. \nCelebrate the season with carols and Christmas favourites in the grandeur of Netherby Hall\, followed by mince pies and mulled wine. \nAs usual\, proceeds from the event will to go to Eden Valley Hospice.\nEden Valley Hospice is a charity dedicated to providing specialist care for adults in north Cumbria who have life limiting conditions. In addition\, we also provide care for their families\, friends and carers. \nAbout Sempre Amabile\nSempre Amabile is a women’s choir formed in 2018 by singers from the Amabile family of choirs. Based in Kendal\, Cumbria\, the group performs music from a variety of genres and enjoys communicating meaning through the marriage of words and music. \nAs well as regular concerts\, Sempre Amabile compete successfully in national competitions and enjoy collaborations with other choirs – most recently the Solway Singers in Carlisle. During the pandemic\, their weekly Zoom sessions provided a source of friendship and creativity\, resulting in a series of online performances now available on YouTube. \nSempre Amabile look forward to celebrating Christmas at Netherby Hall with a joyful evening of festive song.
