Netherby Hall is just a 15-minute drive from the M6 near Carlisle and close to the Scottish border.
You can easily find us using our Google Maps pin or by using our what3words address: lawfully.sensible.guarding which will bring you direct to the reception.

Accessibility at Netherby Hall – Grounds and Access Overview
Netherby Hall is accessed via electric entrance gates, leading onto a long, sweeping tarmacked driveway that approaches the main house. This provides a generally smooth surface suitable for most vehicles and for pedestrian access with mobility aids such as walking sticks or wheelchairs.
Throughout the estate, external paths and additional driveways are a mixture of tarmac and gravel surfaces. Visitors should be aware that some areas, particularly within the gardens and stable yard may have uneven surfaces due to cobblestones or loose gravel, which could present challenges for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.
The Walled Garden features gravel pathways throughout, which may not be fully accessible for all mobility devices and there may be slight gradients or uneven sections in outdoor areas.
We recommend that guests with specific accessibility needs contact us in advance to discuss individual requirements and to help ensure a comfortable and safe visit.
Car Parking
Within the grounds, we offer several parking options, including spaces close to or directly outside many of the apartments, as well as designated guest car parks. Parking surfaces vary and include gravel, tarmac, and cobblestones.
If you have specific parking accessibility needs, please contact us in advance so we can assist with suitable arrangements.
Reception
The reception entrance is accessed from the main gravelled driveway, requiring guests to go up two steps before entering through a standard-sized door. A temporary ramp is available upon request to assist those who need step-free access.
Inside, the reception area features a carpeted floor and is furnished with two moveable armless dining chairs and a table, providing flexible seating options for guest comfort.

Gun Room
The Gun Room is located two doors down from the reception area and is accessed directly from the main gravelled driveway. The entrance is level with no steps and features a larger-than-average door width, allowing easier access for wheelchair users and those with mobility aids.
The floor inside the Gun Room is sandstone, which may have some natural unevenness. Motion-activated lighting is installed to improve visibility.
For self check-in, key safes are positioned on the wall just above head height behind the Gun Room door.
There are also guest toilets located off the Gun Room with a tiled floor.

Apartments & Cottages
Clock Tower
This one-bedroom apartment is accessed via a cobbled yard with a sandstone path directly outside the door. A staircase leads to the apartment on the first floor. Please note there is no lift access. Parking is available a short walk from the apartment.

Independent
This two-bedroom apartment is accessed from the cobbled Victorian stable yard with a sandstone path directly outside the front door. The apartment includes a built-in platform lift for movement between floors (approximate lift dimensions: internal 110.5 cm, external 90 cm). One bedroom with en-suite is located on the ground floor. The first floor houses the main living areas and a second bedroom, which features an en-suite wet room. A shower chair is also available. Parking is available close by, with drop off service available directly outside the apartment.

Gardeners Cottage
This two-bedroom cottage is located at the Walled Garden and is accessed from a gravel driveway. Parking is available directly opposite the cottage. The main entrance is reached via three steps with railings. An additional entrance, also accessed from the driveway, has two steps. Please note there is no step-free access to the property. The living space is located on the ground floor with one bedroom down one step and the additional bedroom up a staircase.

Sir Walter Scott
This two-bedroom apartment is accessed through the Gun Room. Middle Lodge
This two-bedroom cottage is located at the main gates and includes private parking, accessed via its enclosed garden. The front door is reached from the main tarmacked driveway, while a second entrance is available through the garden. The kitchen and living areas are on the ground floor along with a WC. Bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the first floor, accessed via a staircase. Please note there is no lift access.

Event Spaces
The Oak Hall
Featuring real wood flooring which provides a firm, smooth surface that is generally easier to navigate for people using mobility aids, however, natural wood flooring may have slight variations, including minor grooves or seams between planks, which could affect smoothness.
Internal Access Between The Oak Hall & Orangery & Guest Toilets
Access is via a corridor that is carpeted; however, please note that the surface is uneven in places.
The guest toilets are located from the corridor and down two steps, followed by a level carpeted area leading to the cubicles, which have tiled flooring.
